" About Magic Numbers and van der Waals Interactions "
Some results on two unrelated topics will be discussed: (1) The shell
structure of the the electronic configuration in quantum dots is known
to give rise to a series of so-called magic numbers. Effects of the
Coulomb interaction on these and other related quantities will be
addressed. (2) Experiment suggests that positronium may happen to be
trapped at the surface of a solid host by the van der Waals interaction.
We discuss some of our recent findings, which appear to point to the
same conclusion.
